Successful cooperation in the field of transport is the key to forming a single market of transport services in the EU

This was underlined in Brussels today by Acting Director-General of International Relations Directorate at the Ministry of Transport, Ms. Jana Lenarčič, in her address the Conference on European Sustainable Development in Transport.

At the conference, the representatives of the Pan-European trade union organisation – which unites transport unions from the EU member states as well as those from other Central and Eastern European countries – discussed the contributions of the social policy to sustainable development and the vision of transport unions regarding the sustainable development. The conference was also addressed by high representatives of the European Commission – vice-president of the Commission and Transport Commissioner, Mr. Jacques Barrot, Director-General for Employment, Mr. Nikolaus van der Pas and Deputy Director General for Transport, Mr. Zoltan Kazatsay.
On behalf of the Slovenian presidency, the conference was addressed by Acting Director-General of International Relations Directorate at the Ministry of Transport, Ms. Jana Lenarčič. In her speech, Ms. Lenarčič stressed that Slovenia has always been in favour of social dialogue and that »successful cooperation with unions in the field of transport is key to forming a single market of transport services in the European Union.«
