Minister of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning Samo Omerzel receives Patrick Ky, Executive Director of the European Aviation Safety Agency

 
Ljubljana, 20 May 2014 - Patrick Ky, Executive Director of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), began a two-day visit to Slovenia.
 
The purpose of his visit was to discuss with the representatives of Slovenian aviation authorities the possible ways to ensure the appropriate implementation of the European Regulation on civil aviation. Mr Omerzel and Mr Ky debated on how Slovenia intends to correct the deficiencies which for several years have been established by the EASA on inspecting Slovenian aviation bodies.
 
Mr Ky visited the Civil Aviation Agency of the Republic of Slovenia, where he held talks with the representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning on the difficulties Slovenia has been facing in the implementation of the European Regulation. Mr Ky also visited the Slovenia Control Ltd. company where he was accompanied by State Secretary Bojan Babič. There, the interlocutors touched on the future role of the EASA in monitoring the work of air navigation service providers as well as the role of Slovenian air navigation service providers within the functional block of Central European airspace.
 
Mr Ky also met with the management of the Adria Airways company and the Ljubljana Airport.
 
The EASA is an EU Agency with regulatory and supervisory powers in the area of civil aviation safety.
