    Agreement signed for construction of access roads for second track

    More than EUR 109 million in European grants for the second track

    “We were very successful with the CEF Transport Blending Call for Proposals 2017, and Slovenia has obtained more than EUR 109 million for the construction of seven tunnels,” said State Secretary Jure Leben, who commented today on the results of the call for proposals published by the European Commission.

    1.2 kilometres nearer the goal

    Traffic on the new siding has already started to flow. The siding forms 1.2 kilometres of the railway line between the Koper cargo station and the area of the Dekani substation, and also the first kilometre of the second track. It will allow more flexible traffic management and thus increased capacity of the existing Divača-Koper rail line. Trains will carry 15.2 million net tonnes of freight per year, which is 900,000 tonnes more than at present.
